VFW hosts 6th annual cool car cruise-in
LEXINGTON, Tenn — So many cool and classic cars filled the town square in Lexington Monday morning. Folks started their engines for the 6th annual Cool Car Cruise-in.
VFW Post 1294 Commander, Jim Cooper said, “We do this for one of our annual fundraisers and this is where we get most of our money to give back to the community.”
VFW Post 1294 said local businesses helped sponsor the event, that has troops at its heart.
“We have a tent set up to do the Christmas cards for the troops. People fill those out and they get sent away overseas,” Cooper said.
Organizers said the fun comes with a little competition. Three veterans visited every vehicle along town square and chose the top two vehicles at the show. One participant explained why his truck is different from all the rest.
“Ford F150 step side all original, never nothing ever been done to it, no paint job or nothing ever been done to it,” participant, David Graves said.
Along with cars was a live performance from country singer Bryan Moffitt and a couple dancing to the beat. The post commander said he’s proud of the turnout.
“When they started rolling in here it was just a really awesome feeling to see it is coming together,” Cooper said.
Graves said he looks forward to the show every labor day.
“Having a great day! It’s a wonderful day. This is a show that we come to every year. It’s one of the best shows in West Tennessee,” Graves said.
Participants paid $2o to enter Monday’s show. Organizers said each owner gets a plaque for their participation.
