McKenzie school board leaders vote to replace AC units at MHS
McKENZIE, Tenn.-A vote Thursday night by members of the McKenzie Special School District will mean some cooler days ahead, especially for some students and teachers.
After swearing in a new board member and electing a board chair, members took up several issues, one of which was approving the replacement of a dozen A/C units at McKenzie High School. Something leaders said has been needed for many years.
“The high school was built and the first class was in ’98. These units are really aged and so we’re just having to replace those. It’s just the typical cost of being the owner of any type of building,” said John Austin of the McKenzie Special School District.
Work to install the new units will begin soon. There is no word on the exact cost to replace them.
