Gov. Haslam recognizes officers, first responders with awards

JACKSON, Tenn.-Honored at a meeting Monday were the families of six officers and first responders, all killed in the line of duty, serving the Volunteer State, including a fallen member of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Rosemary Vela.
Governor Haslam honored Deputy Vela with the “Three Star Award.” Vela’s family received the award Monday from Madison Co. Sheriff John Mehr.

Governor Haslam also recognized 21 other first responders for their work, with the “First Responders Award.” They included Madison County Deputy Andrew Pollock  for saving the life of a young man earlier this year and Madison County Fire Marshal Don Friddle for his work in the search for Noah Chamberlin.
