Police search for convicted felon in Chester Co.; Schools on Lockdown

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — Schools in Chester County have been put on lockdown while law enforcement conduct a manhunt.

Parents with the Chester County School System received a notification Tuesday that the schools have been put on lockdown while police search for a ‘dangerous individual.’ The notification says, “On advice from local law enforcement, all schools are on lockdown as they pursue a dangerous individual in our community. The individual and incident are not related to our schools. Your children’s safety is our priority.”

According to Henderson Assistant Chief of Police, Leon Johnson, the Henderson Police Department, Chester County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are searching for Gary Hart in the area of Luray Avenue and Trice Road in Henderson. Police say that Hart, who is a convicted felon, got into a fight with a relative Tuesday morning and fired two gunshots into the air. He then fled into the woods near the area, according to information given to the police by Hart’s mother.frankie Lane

Law enforcement officials are on the scene trying to locate him.
