Chester County takes home top team of week four

HENDERSON, Tenn — The Chester County Eagles last Friday defeated Ripley high School 49-7. For that victory they earned the top team of week four, voted on by the fans.

With the win the Eagles moved to 2-1 on the season, as they get ready to face a tough region schedule. Head coach Michael Hodum was pleased with the way his team played last week, but knows there’s still more work to be done.

“I think what we have to do is just continue to get better you know,” Hodum said.  “We’ve told the kids every game from here on out is a region game for us. We got region games for the rest of the year so there’s no breaks. So what we have to do is come out and we have to get better every single day and then on every single Friday night, we have to play a little bit better.”

Hodum did mention he liked how his team doesn’t have one player or a group of players they need to lean on to win ball games. He said this is a collective effort, and that’s what he wants out of his team.

“We don’t have any certain one guy that’s trying to carry the whole load,” said Hodum.  “Everybody has to do their job and I think offensively, you know we had a slow start, we’re just trying to get better every week. Defensively we’re trying to come together as a unit. When you play as one on defense, we really preach that, and when you do that, then good things are going to happen for you on the field.”

The Eagle will look to continue to grow as a team when they take on Obion County this Friday.
