Suspects face attempted murder, aggravated assault charges in court

JACKSON, Tenn. — A suspect is out of the hospital after a shooting in east Jackson nearly a month ago. Hector Cortes is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of theft of cortesproperty.

Cortes is charged with aggravated assault from an Aug. 23 incident on Garneal Street.

Court papers say Cortes had a physical altercation with a man on Garneal Street before pointing a gun at the man and another individual in the yard. longPolice said Cortes was shot in self-defense and had possession of a revolver which had been stolen out of Crockett County.

Two others were charged in court Friday morning charged with attempted first-degree murder. The incident happened Tuesday around noon.

Police say Autumn Maxwell and Anquarious Long are charged after a vehicle was riddled with bullets on North Parkway.

A driver and three passengers were in the car when police say Long fired four shots into it from a vehicle Maxwell was driving. No one inside the vehicle was seriously injured.

Officers said there were four bullet holes in the car.

Both were arrested after a short pursuit and officers pulled Long out of the vehicle. That handgun was registered as stolen out of Jackson. Each are held on $150,000 bond.
