Final day for the West Tennessee State Fair
JACKSON, Tenn –It’s been known for 161 years to bring fun to west Tennessee.
Sunday marked the final day for the annual West Tennessee State Fair, bringing all ages together in the name of fun.
“We like to come out on Sundays because there are less crowds.”
Tonya Tignor has attended every fair since she was a little girl and said it’s something she looks forward to each year.
“There’s not a lot around this area and with amusement parks, there aren’t any ones that are close so when they bring the rides here, it gives us something to do.” Tignor said.
This year’s fair theme was homemade, handmade and farm fresh. The fair brought out over 25,000 west Tennesseans together, which is an increase from past years
“It’s a family event, it’s all about people and friends you know here in the Jackson area.” said Fair organizer Mike Peery. He wanted to make sure this year’s fair offered something unique.
“We did something a little different this year, we cut our prices in half on the weekend plus it did not rain very much this year so we had a good time at the fair.”
They also expanded this year.
“We expanded our kiddie rides, we expanded our petting zoo, and the inside of the exhibit building became a much more festival place, all of our exhibits were new.” said Peery.
