JACKSON, Tenn. — A man killed early Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting in Decatur County was also suspected in a Monday night liquor store robbery in Jackson.

police-lights39.jpegCharles Dove, 35, of Jackson has been identified as the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred around 9:50 p.m. Monday at Old Hickory Package Store, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed earlier Tuesday that Dove was killed in an early morning officer-involved shooting in Decatur County.

Decatur County deputies responded around 1 a.m. Tuesday to a robbery at a Marathon convenience store on Highway 641 and soon afterward saw a vehicle matching a description of the one involved, according to the TBI.

Deputies pursued the vehicle and set up a roadblock. They say the driver, later identified as Dove, ran off the road and into an embankment.

“During an altercation between deputies and the subject, shots were fired at the driver of the car,” said Susan Niland, a public information officer with the TBI.

Dove was pronounced dead at the scene.
