Harvest Time Church in Henderson celebrates women

HENDERSON, Tenn. — The Harvest Time Church of God in Christ had a full house Sunday for Women’s Day. The pastor says although they are a small church they have a mega-church attitude, which was on display Sunday afternoon.

Dressed in all red, women and their families gathered for the annual Women’s Day service in Henderson. This year’s theme was “the chosen women.”

“This is a time that we are celebrating women — the chosen women of God,” Harvest Time first lady Marboline Cherry said. “We’re here to celebrate Jesus.”

Evangelist Cassandra Springfield and the Fresh Anointing Church came from Brownsville to be a part of the celebration. Women gave their personal testimonies, and of course there was music by the choir. The pastor of Harvest Time says this celebration was all about empowering women.

“The women need to know you don’t have to give up, you don’t have to give in,” Pastor Cherry said. “As you go forth, you will understand your worth. You’re worth more than the stuff that some of these guys are trying to tell you.”

Although the focus was on the women, leaders say the service was meant to reach everyone.

“What the women here are trying to say — God did it for me, and he can do it for you too,” Pastor Cherry said. “He brought about a change in my life, and he can bring about a change in your life.”

“Not just the women — we are looking for everybody to be blessed,” Marboline Cherry said. “We are looking to have a high time in the Lord. If you leave here not blessed, it’s your own fault.”

Throughout the service, women were able to win gifts including gift cards and jewelry in a raffle.
