2 teens charged in Tuesday morning drive-by shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — A juvenile is facing an attempted murder charge after a Tuesday morning drive-by shooting in east Jackson.

shooting-graphic-2.jpgPolice responded to the reported shooting around 8:20 a.m. where they say a car drove by a house in the 800 block of East Lafayette Street and fired multiple shots into the home, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department.

The home was occupied, but no one was injured in the shooting.

Police located the suspect vehicle on Carnell Street and took four juveniles and two adults into custody for questioning.

A 17-year-old male was identified as the shooter and is charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, according to the release.

A 16-year-old female identified as the driver is charged with facilitation of attempted first-degree murder.

One of the adults, Brandon Burnett, 20, of Jackson was not involved in the shooting but was arrested on outstanding warrants issued by Jackson police in connection with two December burglaries, according to the release.

The remaining three people were released without charges.

The two teens are being held at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center.

Burnett was arraigned Wednesday morning in Jackson City Court and is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
