ABB aims to grow to 500 jobs in Senatobia within 5 years
SENATOBIA, Miss. (AP) – Swiss firm ABB says its new Tate County plant is a key part of its plan to produce its full range of electrical components for North American customers.
Franklin Sullivan, who leads ABB’s electrical components business in North America, said Friday that the company aims to grow from 100 employees now to 500 employees at the Senatobia plant within five years. ABB hosted Gov. Phil Bryant and others for a grand opening, after shipping its first parts from the plant in April.
Sullivan says the company wanted a site close to Memphis, Tennessee, which is now the headquarters of its electrical business after the company bought Thomas & Betts in 2012 for $3.9 billion.
ABB is operating in a building constructed by Mississippi for failed solar operator Twin Creeks Technologies.
