Jackson police honor fallen TBI Agent De’Greaun Frazier with fundraiser

JACKSON, Tenn. — Almost two months after an undercover Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent was gunned down on the streets of Jackson, law enforcement come together to remember him and raise money for his family.

TBI Agent Frazier fundraiserSpecial Agent De’Greaun Frazier was killed while trying to get drugs off our streets. The Jackson Police Department honored him Friday with a special fundraiser.

Lt. Chris Long and fellow officers smoke out the, police department parking lot to help the family of a brother lost in the line of duty.

“Very good cop, a huge Tennessee Titan football fan. He was a man of few words. He didn’t say a whole lot. Very intelligent, but he was a very good cop,” Lt. Long said.

A fundraiser meant to raise a few hundred dollars for Frazier’s family has turned into a community effort.

“The word quickly spread among his fellow agents at TBI and my guys at Metro Narcotics, and a little over six weeks, this is what it’s turned into,” Lt. Long said.

Agent Frazier was shot and killed in the line of duty Aug. 9 in what the TBI called an undercover drug operation.

“Tremendous, man — I think it’s a tremendous loss for the community, a tremendous loss for us as a long agency. We expected great things from him,” TBI Special Agent Brian Byrd said.

Agent Frazier’s family members were the special guests at the event.

“We want them to know that we care about them and we’re never going to forget them,” Byrd said. “We certainly don’t want anybody to forget D and the things he accomplished and the man that he was.”

Lt. Long says the officers hope to raise about $15,000 from sponsors of the event to give to the Frazier family.
