Blessing of the animals in Downtown Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Sunday afternoon some furry friends got a special blessing in downtown Jackson.
Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church held their annual blessing of the animals.
Outside the church the reverends prayed over the pets and their owners. This event also helped benefit the Downtown Dogs Group.
“They are just so good to us and every year we enjoy doing this,” Downtown Dog groups adoption coordinator Emily Strope said. “A really fun way to get together and see people and get to see a lot of pets, and the blessing is just really meaningful.”
The Jackson Police Department’s k-9 unit also received prayer this afternoon. Pet owners were able to take home the patron saint of animals, St. Francis prayer card.
