West TN fire departments recognized for their efforts to help communities “get alarmed”

JACKSON, Tenn.-Congratulations to a number of West Tennessee fire departments who have helped their communities “get alarmed.”

Wednesday afternoon, several West Tennessee fire departments were recognized by the state fire marshal’s office for their participation in the state-wide program aimed at putting free smoke detectors in homes without them  as part of the “Get Alarmed” program.

“These fire departments are super fire departments in fire prevention, saving lives and preventing fires, these are the leaders of all of the fire departments across Tennessee that are doing this,” said Gary West, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Commerce and Insurance.

Fire officials said having a working smoke detector in your home is proven to save lives.
