Starving puppy found tied up, juvenile charged

JACKSON, Tenn.– A Jackson juvenile is charged with animal cruelty after officers say they found a puppy tied up by the neck by a wire with less than six inches of room to move.

animal crueltyCourt papers say the puppy was found in the backyard of a home along Sunny Side Drive. The affidavit states a 17-year-old male admitted to owning the approximately eight-week-old puppy.

The affidavit states the puppy was severely malnourished with no food or water within it’s reach.

When officers found the puppy, they reported the animal was tied to a ladder by a USB wire that was so tight it was cutting into the puppy’s neck, according to the affidavit.

Charging documents say the wire had to be cut off with a knife by officers.

Officers removed the puppy from the home, according to court papers.

The juvenile’s bond is set at $5,000.
