Jackson-Madison Co. School Board members begin 2-day retreat
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County School Board has begun its two-day board retreat.
Members gathered at the central office to talk about various issues in the district. They are not allowed to vote on anything during this time.
The retreat is meant to be a chance for board members to talk more freely about various subjects. One big topic at this year’s retreat is beginning the search for the new superintendent.
School board chairman Bob Alvey says it’s an important two days.
“It’s really a time where the board can come together and engage in conversation about items we don’t get to talk about in meetings,” Alvey said. “So tonight we really talked about the role of a board member, the vision and mission of the district.”
The retreat continues at 8 a.m. Saturday and is open to the public.
