JACKSON, Tenn. — The Carl Perkins Center’s playground got a makeover Friday morning thanks to employees from Lowe’s stores in Jackson.

Lowe’s Heroes is a company-wide program with the goal of doing a volunteer project with a local nonprofit or K-12 school.

“We decided to go with the Carl Perkins Center because they do so many things for the families in our community as well as several other communities,” said Andrea Maxwell, human resources manager at Lowe’s south Jackson location.

Each store is given funds to complete their own service project, but both stores in Jackson decided to work together this time around.

“We have fun doing it,” said Ginger Adams, human resources manager at the Lowe’s in north Jackson. “It’s a time for us to give back to the community because they’re so good to us throughout the year.”

All volunteers are employees from the Lowe’s north and south Jackson stores.

Cole said the playground had been closed for several months, so she’s glad they can finally reopen for children and their families. “They have replaced everything plus added so much, and we are so excited to be able to use the playground again,” Cole said.

Lowe’s managers say the work on the playground was finished Friday afternoon.
