Afternoon fire destroys home

BEMIS, Tenn.– Madison county firefighters were dispatched to a house fire Saturday afternoon near the Bemis community.

According to Madison County fire chief, Eric Turner the fire was reported by a neighbor who witnessed the home fully engulfed by the flames.

The home, on Raines Springs Road was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to chief Turner.

Firefighters say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
