Father speaks after son and grandson are shot and killed
TOONE, Tenn. — Two days after a shooting took the lives of a father and son in their home it is still unclear who may have pulled the trigger. Sunday afternoon many Hardeman County residents say they are still in shock a senseless murder took place in their tight knit community.
On the way to work Friday morning, Jerry Polk’s daughter told him his son, Joe Robertson, and his 13-year-old grandson Javarrie had been killed.
“Thats was terrible, it put a lot of stress on me,” Joe Robertson’s father, Jerry Polk said. “So I didn’t work Friday, didn’t work yesterday.”
Polk says since Friday, investigators haven’t given any information to the family as to who did this or why.
“We basically don’t know anything,” Polk said. “What happened? The only one who knows what really happened is the one that did it.”
Sunday the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says no arrest have been made in this homicide case and the investigation is ongoing. Although TBI says nobody is in custody, off camera residents say they believe two men are in custody related to Friday’s double homicide.
Mr. Polk also says he believes the Hardeman County Sheriff has someone in custody, but thinks it hasn’t been publicized because there may be another suspect.
“Plus if somebody else is involved they have a chance to get away,” Polk said.
Polk says it’s been hard dealing with his son and grandson being shot and killed, but he’s thankful for Toone community for rallying around his family.
“No its not, Not a way to go,” Polk said. “Still kind of rough you know. Everybody been pretty supportive. Real supportive really.”
We have been unable to reach the Hardeman County Sheriff for an update on the investigation
