Crusaders walk away with team of the week honors
JACKSON, Tenn — This past Friday the Liberty Tech Crusaders jumped all over McNairy Central early and often to beat them 49-7.
Head coach Tyler Turner gave a lot of credit to his offensive line as they have led the way the entire season opening holes for their ground attack and giving quarterback Corey Newble enough time to throw the ball.
“Our offensive line, we got four juniors on our offensive line, we’ve became more fundamentally and technically sound on the offensive line this year than we were last year,” Turner said. We’re very undersized up front compared to most teams we’re going to play against. But we got guys that will get after you, and play with great pad level and do a good job for us. They continue to get better every week.”
As the regular season comes to an end, Turner wants more from his club.
“We got to hit our stride at the right time, you know with playoffs you want to be at your best, playing your best football the time playoffs get here,” Turner said. “That’s what we got to work on this week, can’t overlook South Side. South Side’s a great football team.”
