Jackson Energy Authority dedicates downtown ‘bunker’ to former CEO
JACKSON, Tenn. — It was an important day Thursday for Jackson Energy Authority as they dedicated their control center to their former President and CEO John W. Williams.
“He was the one that really drove getting this building built, and he wanted to have a secure location so that our customers could call in and have a place to be able to contact us and get information when we do have storms that come through our community,” JEA President and CEO Jim Ferrell said.
Williams was motivated to construct the control center after several natural disasters that came through Jackson in the 90s. Referred to as “the bunker,” it is partially underground and has foot-thick concrete walls.
The ceremony was attended by Williams’s family, city and county officials, and the current president and employees of JEA.
