Update: 2 women charged in thefts from Belk at Old Hickory Mall
JACKSON, Tenn. — Two Mississippi women are facing felony theft charges on accusations of stealing over $1,000 worth of clothes from Belk.
Ashley Elise Gray and Zandra Shumpert both are charged with theft over $1,000, according to court documents.
A loss prevention associate reported the thefts Oct. 13 at the Belk store at the Old Hickory Mall on North Highland Avenue.
Three women reportedly stole the clothing and then threw it out of the window of a vehicle while fleeing from the mall. Employees recovered the merchandise.
After police provided local media with surveillance images of the women, they say Crime Stoppers received an overwhelming amount of feedback consistently identifying them.
Gray, Shumpert and a third woman who has also been identified but not charged are all from Bonneville, Mississippi, according to an affidavit.
They were identified with help from the Bonneville Police Department.
