Longtime Henderson police chief retires
CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — The city of Henderson said farewell to their police chief Thursday, and WBBJ was there for his sendoff.
Chief Tommy Davis has been a member of the Henderson Police Department for 36 years, 19 of them as police chief.
Former mayors, chiefs and members of the district attorney’s office were there Thursday to wish Davis a happy retirement.
Davis was also presented with multiple awards for his dedication and service.
“Your best memories are just getting to help somebody,” Davis said. “Ain’t no difference if it’s getting a car out of a tree or helping someone get out of a wrecked car.”
The department says it’s now starting a tradition of awarding officers their service weapons when they leave the force in good standing after 25 years.
