Industries drive new businesses to Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson is seeing a surge in business from all corners of the city, from fast food to fueling up.
“You’re starting to see more retail growth, more commercial growth, and that’s not only occurring in one part of town,” Jackson Chamber President and CEO Kyle Spurgeon said. “It’s north Jackson, south Jackson, east Jackson — you’re seeing construction all over the community.”
Spurgeon said there’s a reason retail is thriving in the Hub City. He says it’s the result of two industries with a strong presence here.
“Manufacturing and health care kind of lead the way in this area if you look at the expansion, the medical community,” Spurgeon said. “Talk to our manufacturing folks. Just about all of them are running at capacity.”
Jack’s fast food joint will open up Wednesday night, and Dodge’s chicken and gas station on North Highland Avenue is expected to open around the end of November.
Meanwhile, you see restaurants rebuilding like a Waffle House on North Highland as well. Spurgeon said to keep this growth going, there are certain areas where the community needs to focus.
“We have to continue to support opportunities for growth that revolve around running trails, biking trails, experiences in the community,” Spurgeon said.
City leaders said it’s also important to support local businesses, especially during the holiday season.
