RIFA packs hundreds of holiday meals for those in need
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local volunteers are busy packing hope for the holidays.
With the help of United Way and several volunteers, RIFA packed more than 200 meals Thursday for the elderly across the Hub City.
Each box is packed with canned food and vegetables.
The program became possible with the help of local businesses and individuals working toward a happier, healthier holiday.
“There are benefits when kids sit down at a table with their family and eat, so by providing a Thanksgiving meal for families, hopefully we’re instilling a sense of hope that will last throughout the holiday and then into the next year,” RIFA community outreach coordinator Legon Craighead said.
RIFA still needs supplies for their Christmas meal program. That delivery takes place in just three weeks.
