Update: Henderson Co. fugitive arrested in Decatur County
DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — A fugitive wanted in Henderson County has been taken into custody.
Richard Hopper was arrested Thursday afternoon at a campground on the Tennessee River in Decatur County, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
When Hopper saw officers, he reportedly jumped into the river and swam a distance before deciding to return to shore.
Hopper was wanted by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department on a aggravated assault charge and by the U.S. Marshals on a federal probation violation charge, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
