Local run raises arthritis awareness
West Tennesseans had a chance to get in the holiday spirit this morning while supporting a good cause.
The arthritis foundation hosted it’s annual Jingle Bell Run Saturday morning at Jackson General Ballpark.
People came dressed in festive clothing to help raise awareness for the disease.
Participants say it is important for people to know arthritis can affect people and animals of all ages.
“When I was in middle school is when I started with it,” said Bridgett Wright, the honoree at this year’s event. “So it effects children, it effects, pets and animals, it effects everyone.”
As a person with arthritis, she says it means a lot to her to see the community getting together for the cause.
The run raised 31 thousand dollars last year, and organizers hope to beat that number this year.
All proceeds will go towards arthritis research and awareness.
