JACKSON, Tenn.-Hundreds of people were waiting outside local stores, Thanksgiving Day to get an early start on their Black Friday shopping.
One of them, the JC Penney store in the Old Hickory Mall opened its doors at 3, Thursday afternoon with a line of shoppers wrapping all around the store.
Store leaders told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News this is their second year to open at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
“I know some stores even started with their Black Friday prices (Wednesday) but we went ahead and held out and we’ve still had just as much traffic today as we would have had (Wednesday), you know. (Wednesday) and I’m sure we’ll have even more traffic (Friday) as well,”
said Christen Barron, general manager of JC Penney.
Store leaders say all 92 of their employees will be hard at work over the next two days.
