Deputies confirm loaded gun found at North Side High School
JACKSON, Tenn. — Deputies found a loaded gun at North Side High School Thursday morning, according to Madison County Sheriff John Mehr.
Mehr said a 17-year-old male brought a loaded gun to school. The Jackson-Madison County School District said school resource officers and the principal were informed the student had the gun. The district said school resource officers immediately removed the student from the classroom.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said the gun was found in a backpack.
Mehr said deputies arrested the student and no one was hurt.
The district said possession of a gun on a school campus is a zero-tolerance offense. The school system said North Side High School was placed on lockdown.
The district said North Side High School families will be informed of the incident via the district parent information system.
