Brownsville police make arrests in November shooting
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Brownsville police say they have made three arrests and are searching for two more suspects in a November shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Xavier Ballard and Marquese Bell both were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery days after a late-night shooting on Tisdale Street in Brownsville, but there are more suspects on the loose.
The victim, Javonte Jarrett, was shot twice, once in the leg and the forearm.
“Our last arrest was Cederian Person. He turned himself in,” Assistant Police Chief Kelvin Evans said.
Evans said he contacted family members of the suspects to let them know they are wanted by police.
“Cederian will be charged with aggravated robbery and attempted first-degree murder,” Evans said.
Person’s bond was set at $500,000.
The U.S. Marshals Service has been called in to help find who else is involved. Police said they’re still looking for the two suspects and won’t stop until they are in custody.
“Two outstanding subjects do live in the area,” Evans said. “We do believe they’re not here. They do know we’re looking for them, and we just encourage them to turn themselves in.”
Jarrett had to be airlifted to a Memphis hospital after the shooting, but Evans said he is now back home. “He’s out of the hospital and doing fine.”
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest for the last two suspects. Xavier Ballard and Marquese Bell are out on bond. All three suspects are set to make their first court appearance Jan. 24.
