Deadly Savannah shooting leaves residents concerned
HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — A deadly shooting at an apartment complex in Savannah is leaving people in the area concerned.
Jo Borden, who lives in the apartment where 26-year-old Brandon Davis was killed, says he was home at the time of the incident.
“When I was in the parking lot I heard a boom, and all of my friends came running out and screaming, ‘He’s dead, he’s dead, run away,'” he said. “It pretty much just left me with a dead body in my house, and I didn’t have anything to do with it.”
Savannah police responded to a 911 call around 6:20 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived at the apartment on 120 Robemma Street, they found Davis’ body.
Investigators said they identified 34-year-old Billy Lynn Tomlinson as the main suspect in the homicide. He is being charged with one account of first-degree murder.
Susan Niland with the TBI says because it is an ongoing investigation, limited details are available.
“While we are able to provide some of the information, there are aspects we are not able to produce at this time because we want to maintain the integrity of the investigation itself,” she said.
Some residents of the surrounding area say they were not surprised to hear about the shooting and are tired of the continued crime.
“We don’t deserve this here,” Linda Ballantyne said. “We have no problems in this area other than these apartments.”
Ballantyne said she is doing everything she can to get it removed from the area and make her neighborhood safe again.
“I hope they get to the end of this and something will be done about this before it takes another life,” she said.
Tomlinson was booked into the Hardin County Detention Center and is being held without bond. As of Monday, an arraignment date had not been set.
