Man serving prison time for rape convicted of 3rd rape

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – A man in prison for rape has been convicted of a third rape in Tennessee.

A Shelby County district attorney general news release says 28-year-old Deandrey Peterson was convicted of aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm in committing a dangerous felony. He will be sentenced next month.

Peterson was convicted of entering a 22-year-old woman’s apartment in suburban Memphis in February 2014 and raping and robbing her. The woman said Peterson threatened to return and kill her if she didn’t wait five minutes before leaving her bedroom.

He’s serving 30 years for a previous rape conviction. He’s awaiting sentencing on a third conviction for raping a woman in her suburban Memphis apartment in March 2014.

The release says Peterson clapped Friday while juror verdicts were read.
