Man convicted in death of 2 patrons of Memphis biker bar
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Prosecutors say a Memphis man has been convicted in the shooting deaths of two club patrons during a fight at a motorcycle bar in 2014.
The Shelby County district attorney’s office says Robert D. “Carlos” Taylor was convicted Friday of two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 52-year-old Eric Whitaker and 26-year-old Jonathan Triplett. Sentencing is scheduled next month.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of April 25, 2014, at the Gentlemen’s Club motorcycle bar, where a fight broke out involving club patrons.
Investigators said Taylor was involved in the fight. Authorities say he left the club briefly, returned with a handgun and began shooting.
Whitaker was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Triplett was shot three times and died at a hospital.
