Officers are asking for your help in a manhunt
CAMDEN, Tenn. — Today in Camden, officers tracked down a suspect who had warrants for his arrest in both Dickson and Humphreys Counties, Best Western in Camden.
“(He) had stolen a donation jar that had been set up in a Quick Mart for a burn victim, and he had stole that with some 2,000 dollars in it,” said Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher.
According to the sheriff, Christopher Aaron Gooch, barricaded himself inside his motel room with a shotgun this afternoon.
“They talked with him, and he wanted to call his mother before he turned himself in,” said Sheriff Christopher.
But instead of doing that, investigators said Gooch had other ideas.
“He actually kicked a wall out underneath the sink in his motel room and scampered throughout about a foot thick wall there, worked his way through the wiring and the plumbing,” said Sheriff Christopher.
Managers of the hotel where the suspect was allegedly hiding out declined to comment on the situation.
After escaping through the south side of the motel, the sheriff said Gooch stole a motel employee’s vehicle.
Investigators said Gooch is a 36-year-old white male, with brown hair, hazel eyes, 6 feet tall and 167 pounds. The sheriff said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Late Tuesday evening, investigators said the motel employee’s stolen vehicle was found abandoned.
