Countdown is on for mailing packages in time for Christmas
JACKSON, Tenn. — The clock is ticking on the number of days left to mail packages to people for Christmas day.
U.S. Postal Service employees predict the busiest mailing day of the year will be Dec. 19.
Because it is the busiest mailing season of the year, some people worry their packages will be delivered to the wrong address or stolen off their doorstep.
David Wilson, an employee of the Tom Murray Post Office location in Jackson, says residents shouldn’t have to worry if they follow simple precautions.
“Be sure to mail early, that is the No. 1,” Wilson said. “Be sure to have a proper address on all your packages. And if you want insurance, just let us know and we will add any other option that you might want.”
Postal leaders say most packages need to be mailed by the 22nd or 23rd to arrive before Christmas, but they recommend mailing earlier than that if possible.
