State education commissioner visits Jackson for town hall

JACKSON, Tenn. — Tennessee’s education commissioner is visiting West Tennessee for a town hall meeting.

Education Commissioner Candice McQueen will be at South Side High School where she is hosting the second of five regional town halls across the state. The meeting begins at 5 p.m.

The meetings are intended to provide updates on the Every Student Succeeds Act and the feedback they received from the state plan.

Department leaders also plan to discuss the next steps and what they think the work looks like moving forward.

The next town meetings will be held in Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga.

The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 14 in Memphis.
