Jackson-Madison Co. NAACP helping residents get signed up for healthcare for 2017

JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the NAACP and the Tennessee Health Care Campaign are teaming up to help people get healthcare for the upcoming year.

In order to have healthcare by January 1, you have to be signed up December 15. After that date, you can sign up by January 31 to start your coverage in February.

The organizations are telling everyone to go ahead and get the coverage, even though the president-elect has promised to get rid of the Affordable Care Act once he gets into office.

“We have well over 20 plus million people that’s on the Affordable Care Act, it won’t be gone tomorrow or next January or the year after that, it’ll still be here and the need will be just as great,” said Harrell Carter, president of the Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the NAACP.

On December 15, the NAACP will have navigators to help get people set up or you can call ‘Get Covered Tennessee’ at 1 (844) 644-5443 to set up an appointment to get set up for the Affordable Care Act.
