JACKSON, Tenn. — Tuesday, the Tennessee Department of Education released the state and district report cards for high schools.

TVASS is an analysis of scores that show how much growth the students make during the year, compared to previous years, on a scale of one to five. The tests are made up of a number of subjects that include Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, English 1,2,and 3, Biology, Chemistry, and U.S. History. The board of education credits this growth to both the teachers and their students.

“There was a new test this year, and we know that it was more challenging. So, I think that the level 5 is just showing that our teachers took that challenge on and raised their expectations for the kids and the kids also raised up to meet those expectations,” said Korth.

Top three in their class; Madison Academics and Liberty Tech who earned a level 5 TVASS and South Side, earning a level 4. We asked Anita Tucker, principal at South Side, how they plan to keep up the good work.

“Focus on the standards that maybe our students didn’t do as well on, but continue to work hard on a daily basis, teaching the standards and wishing for the very best every time those tests are given,” said Anita Tucker, Principal at South Side.
