West Tennessee man donates blankets to the elderly for Christmas
JACKSON, Tenn — One west Tennessee man brings holiday cheer to those who may not have family and friends around during this time of year.
“We’re going to be delivering bags that have blankets and different things in it to the elder here at the nursing home .” James Horton said.
Horton along with a team of family and friends said a prayer thanking God for an opportunity to serve the community before giving residents of maple wood health care center their holiday gift.
“We funded some of it out of our own stuff but we also had help from Snow Co and West Jackson Baptist Church.” Horton said.
Horton says there are many special collections for kids so he wanted to do something specifically for the elderly who may be alone during Christmas.
“This time of year it’s not about me it’s about Jesus and it’s time to do what’s right.” Jesus said.
Horton’s wife Christina who has worked in nursing homes for years says she knows how it can be for the residents this time of year.
His grandmother just passed away a few months ago so neither one of us have grandparents anymore so this is a blessing for both of us because this is something we don’t have.” she said.
