Weather Update – 10:30 p.m. Wednesday

A few showers are possible tonight with windy conditions. Maximum sustained wind speeds will be 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour. Under mostly cloudy skies, temperatures will only drop to the middle and upper 60s by Thursday morning.

More rain is expected tomorrow, especially in the afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches the area. Parts of West Tennessee near the Mississippi River may even encounter scattered thunderstorms tomorrow evening. It’ll be warm outside before the cold front arrives with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. As the cold front moves in, temperatures will be dropping fast. Parts of northwest Tennessee could approach upper 30s to lower 40s by Friday morning.

Friday will feature much cooler weather and it could end up being cold enough to allow freezing rain to fall in parts of southeast Missouri. Right now, the data leans toward this remaining rain in northwest Tennessee with less than a 10% chance for freezing rain in Lake and Obion counties.
