Reactions in Wednesday’s hearing for Holly Bobo

DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn — Another long day in the search for justice.

“I can tell you the family wants this matter over with. They want justice, whatever that might be,” Holly Bobo family Attorney Steve Farese said.

Wednesday, Zach Adams appeared in court during a motion’s hearing leading up to his April trial for the death of nursing student Holly Bobo.

Now those in the courtroom are speaking out.

“Their faith has gotten them to this point and it’s going to carry them throughout this,” family spokesman and Associate Pastor Brad Moore said.

He said the Bobo family remains strong and extremely hopeful.

In the courtroom, attorney Jennifer Thompson argued Judge Creed McGinley should recuse himself from the case. She says during a January teleconference the judge made remarks suggesting Adams should try to make a plea deal and avoid a trial.

Judge McGinley and prosecutor Jennifer Nichols said nothing was inappropriate.

“It wasn’t inappropriate conversations it was extra judicial and the judge reminded her that he had given all council his cell phone number because he is a circuit judge and he’s away from his office a lot,” Nichols said.

“Do you recall Shane Austin writing in his own handwriting that Zach said, ‘I put her by the T in the river. They’ll never find her there,” Nichols asked a witness in court.

Another tense moment inside the court involved Luke Evans, who is the former attorney for Shane Austin. He wants to join Adams’ defense team. Something that did not sit well with the judge or prosecutors.

As for the Bobo family their faith for justice continues.

“They are going to trust the process and they are going to trust the people that are involved,” Moore said.

The next court date is March 1, where they will return to answer any questions the judge might have before the trial officially begins.

At this time, Zach Adams’ trial is still set to begin in April.
