Lane College hosts alums turned authors at African-American Literature Read-in
JACKSON, Tenn. — Lane College hosted an African-American Literature Read-in Wednesday in honor of Black History Month.
Two former Lane students, Leon Freeman and Donatello Grey, who are now published authors returned to campus to speak about African culture and history.
Organizers say the event offered students the chance to meet some of Lane’s successful graduates.
“We try to highlight individuals who can come here and inspire our students,” said Dr. Azaria Mbughuni, chair of the college’s history department.
Lane has several other special events planned throughout February to celebrate Black History Month.
