2 charged after downtown drug raid
JACKSON, Tenn. — Investigators made two arrests following a raid at a local business. Authorities said they found several kinds of drugs inside, including crack cocaine.
“I don’t like it and it needs to be dealt with,” Tim Dendy, a Jackson resident, said.
Donald Duckworth appeared Monday in Jackson City Court on multiple drug counts. Investigators raided Duckworth’s business Friday on East Main Street in downtown Jackson.
Investigators said they found hydrocodone, oxycodone, crack cocaine and marijuana inside work stations at Master Kutts.
Deshawn Majors also appeared in court Monday on counts of theft, drug possession and a weapons possession charge. “He admitted he threw the marijuana down on the ground while the SWAT Team made entry,” Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson said in court.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said the case is still under investigation. “I just hate it for it to be on this side of town,” Dendy said. “It gives us more of a bad name.”
Investigators said they found a stolen gun inside a vehicle outside the business Majors allegedly admitted to owning. According to court documents, officers also found a digital scale inside the drawer of a work station.
Duckworth is currently free on $10,000 bond. Majors is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond. They are both due back in court at 1:30 p.m. June 15.
