UPDATE: Henderson Co. I-40 crash leaves 1 dead

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — An early Tuesday morning crash near mile marker 112 on Interstate 40 in Henderson County leaves a woman dead.

First responders say the crash happened around 2 a.m. when a car ran off the roadway near mile marker 112 and crashed into a tree, bursting into flames. They say the crash shut down the eastbound lanes.

There were three women and two small boys inside the car. One of the women died.

At least two helicopters landed on the highway and transported the remaining victims to a local hospital.

No names have been provided at this time.
