Shoppers pack the store for last minute holiday shopping
JACKSON, Tenn. — With just over a week until Christmas, last minute shoppers are packing the stores, hoping to find that perfect gifts for their loved ones.
“I always wait, I don’t know why,” shopper Chris Hicks said. “I guess I hate to spend the money till right before.”
Academy Sports + Outdoors is getting ready for one final holiday shopping push.
Store director Steve Johnson says markdowns and deals, come to those who wait. .
“All the big stuff that you really just can’t hide under the Christmas tree, it’s last minute stuff,” he said.
While some put off the holiday shopping, others say they wait to find the good deals.
“I think the closer it gets to Christmas Eve, the more things go on sale,” shopper Rhonda Criag said.
And while some are just starting, others are wrapping up.
“I think I have four or five things left to get, and that’s it,” shopper Beck Johnson said.
But shoppers like Jerry Graham says it’s important to remember what the season is about.
“I just got to get my wife something,” he said. “It’s really just she and I anymore, so we go from there.”
Academy Sports + Outdoors will be open next Saturday until midnight for holiday hours, until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will close Christmas Day.
