Periods Of Heavy Rain, Flash Flood Watch Through Saturday Morning

Weather Update – 12:44 p.m. – Friday

If you’re still planning on getting in some travel time today for the holidays make sure to stay safe! The rain has arrived and will be heavy at times, causing some concern for flash flooding. We are under a flash flood watch starting 9am today through Saturday morning.

As this frontal system makes its way through it will be bringing over 3″ of rain possible especially along the I-40 corridor. Although the severe weather risk with this is low, some areas could see a few thunderstorms. Heaviest rain fall will be centered through much of West Tennessee with a band of 3″-6″ of rain likely. Today will be the last day we will see mild temperatures. Highs will be in the low 60s but dropping down into the mid to lows 40s overnight. Cold front moving through will bring in some colder air our way for the weekend.  Highs starting Saturday will stay in the upper 40s and the showers will start to taper off by the middle of the day.

Mostly cloudy for Christmas Eve and cool with some peaks of sun finally in our forecast after unsettled weather this week. Christmas Day will be dry and mostly sunny with temperatures in the low 40s. Next chance of rain possible by Wednesday Night.
