Woman charged with embezzling from Jackson tanning salon
JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman accused of embezzling money from a south Jackson business faced a judge Tuesday.
Mary Parker appeared Tuesday in Jackson City Court.
“Charged with theft over $1,000, embezzlement,” Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson said.
Parker is accused of embezzling money from Jamaica Me Tan on South Highland Avenue, according to court documents. Police said the owner confronted Parker on New Year’s Eve.
“Parker pulled cash totaling $146 out of her bra,” Anderson read from an affidavit.
Police said Parker also admitted to taking $1,000 on one occasion and $550 on another. Parker also admitted to taking merchandise from the store and said she sold it on her own, according to court documents.
Parker is currently free on $5,000 bond. She is scheduled to return to court at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 1.
