Local restaurants expect big crowds for first Titans playoff in 9 years

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans will head to the playoffs this weekend for the first time in nine years. Local businesses said they expect big crowds for the game.

Staff stocked the bar Friday at Buffalo Wild Wings in Jackson. Assistant General Manager Jeff Acred said they expect a lot of people for Saturday’s playoff game against the Titans and the Chiefs.

“A lot of people go to Nashville to see the Titans and because they can’t get to Kansas City they’ll come here and watch the game here,” he said.

Acred said they plan to have extra staff, specials and raffle prizes. “There’ll be everything from koozies to coolers,” he said.

731 Sports Bar and Grill General Manager Jared McCowan said they will have more servers, more food and more alcohol for the game. “You definitely don’t want to run out of anything,” he said.

McCowan said they are offering a drink deal plus a special Titans burger. “The Titans burger includes a burger patty with Swiss cheese, bacon and avocado,” he said.

McCowan said he expects people to rally behind the Titans. “You can look back at the Predators when they were in the playoffs,” he said. “Everyone comes out and supports them, puts on their colors and I’m expecting them to do the same for the Titans,” he said.

Both places agreed having the Titans in the playoffs is good for business. “The more local input we have, as far as you know local teams, the better it is for us,” Acred said.

The Tennessee Titans take on the Kansas City Chiefs at 3:35 p.m. Saturday.
