Suspects in high-profile Jackson shootings appear in court

JACKSON, Tenn. — Two high-profile cases went before Judge Kyle Atkins Tuesday in Madison County Circuit Court.

A man accused of opening fire in August 2016 outside a north Jackson plant made another court appearance.

David Allison is charged with 10 counts of attempted first-degree murder in a shooting in the parking lot of Stanley Black & Decker.

Police say Allison fired several gunshots into vehicles outside the plant before taking off into the woods and, at some point, stripping off his clothes.

Attorneys asked to push back the case yet again to allow more time for law enforcement agencies to prepare maps of the scene.

Allison returns to court March 20.

A woman charged in the shooting death of Betsy Raines at a Jackson law office also appeared in court.

Shurnue Bratton is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, aggravated robbery, theft, tampering with evidence and felon in possession of a firearm.

In court Tuesday, the public defender’s office said they had a conflict of interest representing Bratton.

They say a former investigator of the case now works for the legal team. Bratton will now be appointed a new attorney.

Bratton was recently fired from Casey, Simmons and Bryant, PLLC where the shooting happened.

Police say Bratton admitted to shooting Raines and taking her property.

Bratton is set for another appearance Feb. 20.
