High school students get visit from local lawmaker
JACKSON, Tenn. — Students at Jackson Central-Merry Early College High had a special guest Monday.
State Rep. Johnny Shaw spoke with students about being involved in the political process and how they can have their own voice.
Principal Nathan Lewis says they have guest speakers in hopes of better preparing their students for college and their future careers.
“Day in and day out we’re trying to help them to be prepared for college or career, and part of that is seeing other people and how successful they’ve been,” Principal Lewis said.
The principal went on to say they want their students to know that any career they may want is a possibility.
